Red Hat Linux (RHL), made the company Red Hat, Inc.., Is a popular Linux operating system until production ceased in 2004. Red Hat Linux 1.0 was released on 3 November 1994. Originally called the "Red Hat Commercial Linux" is the first linux distro that uses RPM Package Manager system, which is then followed by several other distributions, such as Mandriva Linux and SUSE Linux. Since 2003, Red Hat has discontinued production of Red Hat Linux, but issued a Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) for enterprise environments (not free), and Fedora (which is developed by the community with support from the Fedora Project and sponsored by Red Hat) as a free version for the environment housing. Red Hat Linux 9, the latest release, was officially terminated on 30 April 2004, although the support is given by the Fedora Legacy project until early 2007.
